Jim R. Rogers is the parent of three and grandfather of four… a fact about which he is most proud. 

                                               

From 1992 until 2006 Jim was owner/director of ParentsCare, a company facilitating Family Enrichment Programs that Put Parents and Children First, which now has become still learning, inc.  He is a Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE) through the National Council on Family Relations; A Certified Parent Instructor, CICC, Los Angeles; A member of Partners For Effective Parenting; A member National Council on Family Relations; A current Council member, National Parenting Education Network, NPEN; A member of National Parenting Association; the Family Coalition of The Carolinas; A past member International Alliance of Invitational Education; A past member, National Parenting Instructors Association. Member of Center for Improvement of Child Caring and the National Effective Parenting Initiative.

Since 1993, Jim has conducted parenting workshops for the Horry County Department of Social Services; Parenting For The 90’s for Coastal Carolina University’s Continuing Education programs; conducted three-day workshop for Horry County School District Summer Leadership Conference; workshop for S.C. Child Care Association; Guest speaker for D.A.R.E. State conference.  Other workshops for Family Support Services, churches, child care centers private and public schools. He recently spoke in Tennesse to the national training conference of Freedom Schools from Children's Defense Fund, The Parenting Institute annual conference in Winston Salem, North Carolina, and the South Carolina Association of School Administrators in Myrtle Beach.

Jim has written a parenting column for the regional family newspaper Parent News for 13 years and continues to appear as a regular guest on local television stations. He has also created and developed parenting workshop, leader guides, and training curricula for social services, child care facilities and school settings.


Jim was employed in the CENTER FOR EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY COASTAL CAROLINA UNIVERSITY from l993-2006.  He was the staff Parent and Family Life Educator, CFLE and he conducted parent, family and youth workshops for various conferences and projects; facilitated graduate and undergraduate classes in parenting and parent involvement; consulted with schools on parent training, parent involvement and family literacy; conducted campus and community private parenting conferences; was the coordinator of H.O.M.E in the Center, a Family Resource Center and was the Media Specialist For Center Projects.

Jim earned his Master of Education, Early Childhood in 1994 at Coastal Carolina University, Conway-Myrtle Beach, SC.  He attended Antioch University, Marina Del Rey, CA, enrolled in the masters program in clinical psychology with emphasis on child development and psychotherapy from 1991-1992. He graduated from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC in 1957 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications with minors in English and Drama.  He is a Certified Family Life Educator, CFLE, through National Council on Family Relations and has certification as a Parenting Instructor through the Center For The Improvement Of Child Caring, Los Angeles CA.

                                                                      

Prior to making a career change to parenting education,  Jim was thirty-five years in service businesses which involved 100% people skills and included supervising, management, sales and operations. Other roles were senior vice president of human relations, employee benefits and training, corporate ombudsman, operations chairman and company owner/president. The various businesses were radio, television, advertising and broadcast/media production in Charlotte, Atlanta, New York and Los Angeles. From those years, he became a National award-winning director/producer of TV commercials, and produced and/or directed corporate media projects, music and entertainment programs.

Jim is a retired member of the Director’s Guild of America and produced and directed several productions at the Center including Calling All Colors: The Quilts; Calling All Colors: Ten Years Later (he was the creative consultant on his first project at the center, the original Calling All Colors), Jump For The Sun; Third Quarter; My Name Is Renee; The Mystery of The Dance and most recently Who Makes Us Us? We Do. Calling All Colors; The Trilogy, Mystery of The Dance and Who Makes Us Us? We Do are still available for purchase and delivery through still learning, inc.
